the red carpet

There were three party dresses. Yep THREE! Obviously she only wore one and perhaps has a sneaky change in to another sneaky outfit change during her party.

So the reason I bought 3 dresses? Well, I prematurely bought one about 8 months ago when I was certain I was having a Toadstool theme party! Its super cute with gnomes and toadstools on it but then I decided Japanese theme was so much more relevant and fun! Then I found this amazing Rock your Baby dress and estimated she would be a size 0...haha Tallulah is so petit and I tried this dress on her about a month ago (the dress had been in her wardrobe for like 4 months!) and it was swimming on her....! Oh no!

Then I found this amazing little kimono wrap dress on etsy which was so reasonably priced and is made by a lady in Queensland and I fell in love with it and Tallulah looked so darn cute in it. I got some super cute ruffled black bloomers and because it was a wee chilly I put a white long sleeved top underneath! I even bought patent red mary-jane shoe WHICH I FORGOT TO PUT ON HER...haha didn't matter but seriously I drove to a far away shop to get them!

After we cut the cake I changed her into a this hilarious onesie I made with some felt and a hot glue gun....she became a life size sushi roll! Complete with a wasabi and ginger headband which surprisingly stayed on her head for about half an hour! She looked so cute!

I love her little Japanese dress and love that its handmade and will most definitely tuck it away when she out grows it! She looked perfect...naw my baby is one, can not believe it!

p.s. Outfit photos are so hard to capture when one has a rather 'spirited' baby!

sushi roll baby

Um, found this via Etsy today and I am so tempted to get it for Tallulah to wear to her first birthday party! HA! I am in the midsts of planning/DIY-ing/creating Tallulah's Japanese first birthday! Wouldn't this be the cutest thing ever, but alas I have ordered an equally cute dress....but maybe I should get this too or maybe make a version of it for cake-eating? It's seriously the most ridiculously cute thing ever!

faire une affaire (french for BARGAIN!)

Um, so the weather is ah-mazing at the moment think 21, sunny and simply divine! Its seriously the best weather- chilly enough for tights but sunny enough for sunglasses. We've been hitting the pavement and soaking in some winter rays oh and doing some shopping. A pass-time I enjoy quite a lot! Whilst shopping for some things for Tallulahs rooms I may have found these AWESOME shoes! Seriously do they not look like these french shoe Bensimons? Well, they are the poor mans cousin and they cost me a whopping $4.85! They have been on my feet ever since and they are oh-so comfy. Tallulah has also been sporting some shoes and it seems her collection is growing. Baby shoes are completely impractical but really darn cute.

Note; I just read that Bensimon are releasing a kids collection. I die.

I'm going to ride my bike until I get home

We had a super Friday, Ross had the day off so we went down to Fremantle to Wild Poppies for breakfast which was delightful. Though for some reason I decided to have salmon (this wasn't smoked salmon, it was a fillet!) for breakfast which then bought back horrible memories of the Japanese hospital breakfasts I had to endure. Not that Wild Poppies salmon was at all horrible, it was actually delicious...haha!

Anyways, we were in Fremantle because at the Angove Street Festival Ross bought us a super cute vintage inspired bike and we have decided to get a baby bike seat so we can go on family bike rides! We walked across to South Terrace to the bike shop there (I forget what it was called!) and found the cutest baby bike seat in all the land! We fell in love with the Bobike Mini which is designed by those clever Dutch people. They have made a seat for the front of your bike which makes a lot more sense to Ross and I because we can see her!

We picked the grey and white abstract pattern called Isis Grey which matches our bike perfectly and we also ordered a tiny baby helmet which looks like a ladybug haha amazingly cute! We got home and Ross installed the seat onto our bike and we put Tallulah in it and tested it out in the safety of our carport. OMG there were sounds of joy I have never heard before! Her little face was filled with excitement!

We pick up the helmet next weekend- YAY! I can't wait to bike around!

P.S Aren't Tallulah's cherry pants the cutest little pants ever? haha love!

Bag Lady

Olga Berg bag I bought for travelling!

First ebay purchase, stated it was leather and was not....not happy and it was kinda ugly!

Super great Witchery bag, buttery soft, roomy and very comfy!

Urban Originals bag, super fun and roomy!

When I had Tallulah in Japan we were en-route around the world for 3 months so I had packed pretty lightly and only packed one over the shoulder black faux-leather bag with the plan to buy a super great leather one during our travels. Needless to say I ended up utilising this Olga Berg black satchel bag whilst away but on my return to Perth I started my hunt for the perfect 'non-baby-yet-a-baby-bag'! haha this actually was a lot harder than I first anticipated.

I decided I definitely did not want to go down the traditional 'nappy-baby-bag' road. They are probably really practical with their water-proof insides, pockets and room but they are just not me and I find them a little 'mumsy' haha go figure?! The things I was looking for is a roomy cool looking black leather bag with several pockets where everything important (keys, phone, wallet, dummy etc) can have place of its own. I am so over rummaging for something and its getting super tricky juggling baby and bag of things!

There have been several purchases since we have been back and still I wasn't really loving any of them! My first bag was a beautiful leather Elk satchel but I got it home and realised I impulsed bought without checking things like if it had enough pockets. Massive fail. I took it bag but could only get a credit note (darn! but I bought it from a shop I love so everyone will be getting their birthday presents from there- haha!) My next purchase was a bag from ebay which was stated as 'leather' but indeed it was not. It was super plastic-y and I was not impressed. So I went back to my trusty Olga Berg bag.

After some more shopping both online and in the shops I still could not find anything I loved! I think I was getting desperate and ended up buying a bag which was on sale from this random website called Happy Cow- talk about impulse buying. I enjoyed their philosophy they used recycled leather and they were Australian. Oh dear, the bag was hideous, small and wasn't really my style at all! So I returned this one too.

I was beginning to think I should just get a 'nappy bag' or just deal with my original bag and the rummaging. But then I found 2 bags I loved (well, hopefully loved) on ebay. I won both and waited on their arrival. YES! I loved them both- geez when it rains it pours!

The first was an Urban Originals which surprisingly isn't leather but is super roomy and has two handy side pockets and the best thing- lots of super great studs. I used this for a week until my second bag arrived and loved it. I think I would love it more if it was leather though.

My second bag is a black leather Witchery satchel. Its made surprisingly well and I LOVE the pocket under the overflap. It fits all my stuff in there and then all of Tallulah's stuff in the main compartment. I also really like that the overflap has handles so the bag can be used as a clutch aswell. I think I have found my baby bag for now....! I can hear Ross breathe in relief- I think he was over my bag hunt haha! But if there is anyone out there that is thinking of designing super great 'non-baby' bags DO IT!

Note: Hmmm looking at these pics they kinda all look the same...I promise they are not!
