Hello, Road

Photobucket

Where have we been? We've been down south hoorah! Last weekend we flipped Tallulah's car seat and decided to go down to Peppermint Grove Beach to visit my Dad who lives down there! I was curious to see if Tallulah would fuss in the car for the whole 3 hour drive but flipping the seat was the best thing we've done...! She slept till Bunbury then we had some lunch and stretched our legs then for the rest of the drive she fell back to sleep! Yeeeeha- high5!

We only stayed 1 night but it was fun to hang out, drink wine and eat home-cooked food! Tallulah had fun exploring a new house and we took her down to the beach but it was freezing and really windy! It was delightful and the little lady slept the WHOLE way back to Perth! So this little test-drive was super successful. Bring on summer roadtrips!

Our weekend was pretty darn great! It was one of those weekends which makes me love this city I live in! Saturday morning we got up late cooked up some chicken and avocado croissants and then decided it would be nice to walk into the city and check out the Pigeonhole sale!

We wandered in and bumped into an old friend which is always nice. We got to Pigeonhole (the one in Bon Marche arcade) and ordered some coffees from Cabin Fever and perused through the racks. I found an AH-mazing knitted sculptural scarf for a ridiculous cheap price and Ross picked out some super cute retro shorts which he didn't try on and ended up being too small (boys! haha) I also purchased some SUPER cute things for Tallulah; 4 DUNS dresses for summer (I am super obsessed with this label and have perhaps purchased some more online thanks to Desert Darling's recommendation of the online store Love it Love it Love it) some cute little girl clips for Christmas (hopefully she will have some hair?) and some for our little nieces and this cute owl pin which I'll probably also put in Tallulahs Christmas stocking! I'm pretty excited for Christmas but lets not go there haha! We also bumped into 2 of our other friends- I love it when this happens!

Then we went to 140william to have lunch at Iku Sushi. I had read about their cheeseburger sushi and was perhaps a little intrigued. This place is super cute and reminds me a little of Japan, slightly kitsch with kawaii touches like napkins which have ties printed on them! Tallulah enjoyed some rice and we gave our burger sushi the thumbs up!

Then we strolled back home via Bivouac Canteen which I have been dying to go to since it opened a couple of weeks ago and got a coffee and spied on the food and made a mental note that we must return immediately and dine on their delicious food. The rest of Saturday we lazed around, teethed, ate Thai and watched Harry Potter.

Sunday was also topnotch in the weather department so we decided to bike ride to Maylands and grab some coffee and breakfast. It was DEE-lightful! We couldn't get into our favourite cafe for breakfast so we wandered down 8th Ave and found another cafe to dine at. Then of course we bumped into one of our best friends and had an impromptu cake date at Mrs S. Seriously this is one thing I LOVE about Perth is that you are bound to bump into someone you know! Aw warm fuzzies!

sunday (more like rainday!)

 playground!

awesome swing (well I think its super!)

Rad Library in Hyde Park

Yesterday we braved the grey skies and went on a stroll to Hyde Park to check out this swing that I have been dying to put Tallulah on. Boy, it is one popular swing I tell you as I have tried two different times to try it out and there is always a kiddo on it and some waiting! We got some take-away asian bakery goodies (yum!) and sat on a bench to eat them and waited till the swing was free. 1/2 an hour later we got our turn and Tallulah was like 'Meh, whatevs' haha hilarious!

It was nice to get out and about! On our way home we discovered this random 'Rad Library' set up in the park. Basically its there every Sunday and you can borrow hard-to-come by books and return them the following week! Such a super cute idea and I loved the randomness of it all! Yay for weekends!

Over the weekend we took our first family mini-break (well, our first Australian mini-break!) for my Mum's birthday! We packed our bags and jumped on a ferry enroute to Rottnest! I hadn't been to Rottnest since in over 10 years- wowee! To those who aren't familiar with the island that is Rottnest, its a 25 minute ferry ride from Perth and its this super chilled island of cabins and camping with no cars, a great bakery, a crappy pub (well, we think its crap! haha) and these funny little rat-mini-kangaroo rodents called Quokkas! Its a fun place for kids, family oh and school leavers (this happens in October when its taken over by rowdy teens, please avoid its hideous!) It's usually chokkas in the summer months as its B-L-I-S-S with lots of swimming and lazying around on the beach. However, it is equally delighful in the cooler months cozied up near the fire and drinking red wine. Yay.

Well, Tallulah got a massive kick out of the ferry ride, it was super choppy so the boat was a-rocking and Tallulah was shrieking with glee- it was so darn cute! She actually was a super delight the whole weekend, she got lots of cuddles from her Jo (her grandma-I'll blog about this later!), she crawled, stood and fell over and even got a little souvenir a lovely bruise on her forehead!

We, adults also had a super great time, we played board games, drank Baileys on the verandah, took long walks and cooked delicious food. It was exactly what I needed just to chill with my favourite people in all the land. Yay.

Party Animals

Had one of the b.e.s.t weekends we've had in awhile. As I mentioned in my last post we are embracing our nightlife again! Gosh, I missed it, I forgot how great fun it is to hang with my lovely friends, drinking wine and eating delish food at nighttime. Really there is no better way to spend a weekend. I'm pretty sure Tallulah didn't know what hit her, two nights out in a row! Party animals! She has mastered sleeping in her pram, OMG thankyou!!! I was starting to think I had purchased the wrong pram...

Its funny, I think I had convinced myself you can do everything you did before you had a baby, but in reality its not really that idyllic. Ross and I used to just pop down the road for a beer or cider and sometimes one afternoon beer turned into a boozy dinner and more drinks but unless you organise a babysitter this doesn't really happen. It takes more planning, doesn't?

We've embraced going to friends houses and having people over to ours and I must say I really love it! The drinks are cheaper, I love cooking and the best part Tallulah can join us! One of my best friends is expecting in July so there will be another little babe around which will be super! I really can't wait for more of my friends to join this baby world its pretty neat! Oh geez did I just say that? Hilare!

six bags of apples

OMG I have a six month old! How did this happen? Its nuts! We went for Tallulah's 6 month health appointment on Tuesday and she hasn't quite hit 6 kilos yet, she tipped the scales at 5.88kg and measures  63cm! She is one LONG yet SKINNY baby, quite like her papa!

She is oh-so happy sitting and playing with her toys now, she loves, loves it! She has also started to get up on her knees and hands and sway to and forth! Clever, girl! I feel crawling is not that far away! So in preparation we have just bought some baby safety gates so she won't be able to crawl into the kitchen or bathroom! We are expecting her to be a live wire as she is also going, going, going!

In other news we had our first dinner date with friends last night which was ah-mazing! We have been avoiding night time dates like a bad smell as Tallulah is always a little cranky! But we've decided this mama and papa need their night life back! And I must say I have missed it! It was such a lovely night out we met some friends for Hainan Chicken Rice at Tak Chee then went for Icey Ice! Tallulah was pretty entertaining and shriek and gurgled all night! Tonight we are going for pizza and wine at our friends, hooray for outings!

I hope everyone is having a super weekend! We just spent the morning dining on baked eggs, coffee and beetroot & choc cake at the new cafe Attic in Fremantle! Delightful!

twenty four / two dozen

24 wow! Nuts! Time is flying by...! We have a little 'Royal Wedding Fever' in our household today! We made a delicious feast fit for a king (haha or a princess!) We made a roast pork, apple sauce & garlic and rosemary potatoes and a peach and chocolate trifle! Aww really its not often a 'commoner' becomes a princess! In celebration we made paper crowns which Tallulah thought were very tasty! haha

This week has been a fun one as we had an extra long weekend and its been a short week! We had brunch with a good friend who is back home from London which was delightful and yesterday we had lunch with one of my old work friends.

In other exciting news my cousin who lives in Tokyo with his Japanese wife who were amazing whilst we were living in Japan had their baby; a little girl! I can not wait for our little girls to meet! Hooray!

I have noticed this week that Tallulah is becoming really interactive she loves to reach out and stick her little fingers in my mouth and for me to pretend chomp on them she cracks up giggling. She also likes to bounce on EVERYONE! She will push off on her feet and expect you to push her into the air. I think she has been spending too much time in the jolly jumper...it is by far her favourite toy! Awww she is such a gem!

Have a great weekend! Hope you enjoy the Royal Wedding!

Silly Rabbit

How was everyones easter? Ours was so great but oh-so very busy! It was filled to the brim of picnics, breakfasts, family and friends! Easter Sunday was spent picnic-ing in Kings Park which was so lovely! Tallulah looked extra cute in her knitted bunny hat which I didn't actually purchase for easter but it seemed fitting. She loved rolling around the picnic blanket looking at the trees and running her fingers through the grass. Such a great long long weekend we were sad when papa Ross had to go back to work! However its a short working week and Friday has come by fast which is nice!

Hope the Easter was a good one for you too!

Counting Sheep

We had a very relaxing weekend which is so nice and energising! One of my bestest girlfriends Penny who lives in Melbourne was back in Perth so we hung out had brekky with a group friends at our favourite cafe Cantina on Friday morning. Then on Saturday she popped over and went to the pub for a sneaky beer and Tallulah had a snooze on her papa.

Penny also spoiled Tallulah and gave her this Threadless tee which I had been eyeing off and almost bought last week! So cute cannot wait for her to wear it!
